Kristen
Hughes H.U.G.S. Program
So
many hugs of thanks are owed to the volunteers who made the Kristen
Hughes HUGS program a great success! We were able to deliver 149 bags of food (with $20 gift cards
included) to 3 food pantries in total and had a remaining 200
miscellaneous items to deliver to a 4th pantry the next day. Volunteers
were so generous that many threw in extras like popcorn, peanut butter and pasta--OR took advantage of the "buy one, get one
free" sales and included the extras! We are overwhelmed
by the generosity in this community and would like to extend our
heartfelt thanks for thinking of others during this season
of giving.

Special gratitude to Pam Payton and Lori Pomerich who
coordinated the entire program; to Scott Pomerich who drove the
truck; to Megan Jordan and Susan Graves and the student volunteers
who loaded the truck; to Brooke Payton and Elliott Pomerich who passed out flyers at the Jewel and around their neighborhoods, to
Vicki Rawlins and her son (from Gurnee) who did a neighborhood drive
and helped distribute bags on Saturday; to members of the Union
Church of Lake Bluff, the Community Church of Lake Forest and Teddi
Koch's Movement and Music Class for their donations; and
to the many individual volunteers in our community who helped spread
the word and made the trip to Gorton and the Volunteer Center to
drop off their bags. I know you will all have a more
meaningful Thanksgiving because of the effort you made. THANKS
(for) GIVING!
